So today I decided to wear one of my favourite colours; blue, or more specifically, baby blue! I paired my blue peplum dress with a blue cardigan and blue pearl style earrings. My look today was inspired by the 1940s femme fatales, think Rita Hayworth or Veronica Lake and Lily James in Cinderella, quite a contrast – but I think it turned out well! The peplum figure hugging dress is so 1940s/1950s and fits perfectly with my vintage fashion. My colour theme reminded me so much of Cinderella, my favourite disney movie – so that was an added bonus. Also, the Bardot style off the shoulders are always very in trend for Spring/Summer.
To keep the Cinderella innocence I added my baby blue cardigan, obviously for warmth but to add a vintage feel of 1950s girl next door – think Debbie Reynolds. I adore the detail on this cardigan, the little things always make the outfits!
As for my makeup, I went for dark red lips to emphasize the 1940s femme fatale look I was going for. I used my Max Factor Colour Exlir Lip Pencil again and Blake Lively’s Pure Red L’oreal Colour Riche, it’s so nice and easy to put on and smells lovely too, which is a nice bonus. I also have Julianne’s Pure Red, but that’s more of a warm tone and goes against the cool mysterious blue tones of a dark red. This dark red really works on fair skin and blonde hair, it’s definitely a 1950s Marilyn red.
For my hair, I was inspired by Veronica Lake’s loose curls and Game Of Thrones, once again, quite a variety! I teased the back and front of my hair, to created a nice vintage shape and I decided to twist two front pieces of my hair, inspired by Cersei Lannister. I then went back to my vintage roots and added a baby blue bow to the back for the finishing touch.
I took some full outfit shots so you can see the whole thing put together, I hope you like it! Here in England it’s still too cold to go bare legged so I just wore my leggings, luckily they go with pretty much everything.
I hope you enjoyed this Spring look and don’t be afraid to mix and match with your inspirations!
