So I was nominated for a Liebster Award by the beautiful Marieta from aheadofroses and this is my first Blog Nomination too, so I’m very honoured. As I’ve only recently started blogging I’m pretty much a newbie to all of this!
To fulfill my nomination I will now answer the questions provided by the lovely Marieta.
1.) What made you start a blog?
I’ve been blogging on Tumblr since August 2011 and for quite a while now, I’ve wanted to start a professional blog about my interests in Vintage Style and Fashion. So a month ago, with the help of my lovely friends Laura and Paul – meganmonroes was born!
2.) What is your favourite animal and why?
Since I was a little girl I have always adored Cats and at twenty one years old, nothing has changed! I also really love Pigeons too, that probably sounds pretty strange to most people, but I just find them so inspiring, I’m always rooting for the underdog!
3.) Do you have any guilty pleasure songs?
With music and myself, it’s pretty simple – I like what I like and if others don’t agree, that’s their choice! The only guilty pleasure songs I can think of really are from Grease 2 (1982), no one likes the film and ever since I watched it with my friend years ago, it’s always had a special place in my heart!
4.) A film that you never get tired of watching?
I am such a film lover, so I’ve seen a lot of films multiple times but, my all time favourite films has to be Gone With The Wind (1939), I can practically quote the film and every so often I will casually pretend to be Scarlett and Rhett and talk to myself. If you’ve seen the film, I’m sure you’ve all done that once or twice, it’s just so damn quotable!
5.) What is something that is on your Bucket List?
I don’t actually have a Bucket List, but if I did visiting Rome and Paris would definitely be on there. Ultimately I just want to have a fulfilling life and help others as much as I can along my journey.
6.) Given the choice of anyone in the world, (living or dead) whom would you want to have dinner with?
It would have to be Marilyn of course, the light of my life and the person I owe so much to.
7.) Who is your Style Icon?
I have a few, Marilyn Monroe, Veronica Lake, Sharon Tate and Brigitte Bardot.
8.) If you could live in a certain time period, which would you live and why?
Although I adore the fashion and style from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, I think I’m very fortunate to be living in the 21st Century, the world is forever developing and it is wonderful to be able to witness all of the changes and improvements on equality and understanding.
9.) Are you a Collector of anything?
Yes, I collect all things Marilyn, my room is basically a Shrine to her and I also collect Vintage Magazines. I have other small collections of Veronica Lake, Sharon Tate, Jayne Mansfield and Brigitte Bardot too. Basically, anything Old Hollywood! I also love buying books, I have so many I need to read but I can only read one at a time sadly. I love Biographies on Old Hollywood Stars.
10.) Have you ever had a, “Now or Never” moment?
I found this question pretty hard to answer, as I can’t think of anything drastically life changing where I thought it’s now or never. I can think of one traumatic incident that happened to me, but I think that comes under, “Fight or Flight” so I shall say no, although they are very similar sayings so I don’t know.
