Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmers & Bourjois Rouge Edition 41 Lipstick.

You guessed it, this post is about my favourite thing – lipsticks! Today I’ll be reviewing my latest purchases, two lip shimmers from Burt’s Bees and a red lipstick from Bourjois!

I’ve always adored the packaging of Bourjois and I’ve used a few of their products over the years,  but I’ve not got many of their lipsticks. However, that will definitely change after trying my latest buy, Bourjois Rouge Edition Lipstick in 41. Apparently the shade is called Pink Catwalk, although as far as I’m aware I couldn’t see the name, just the number on the product. Plus, this lipstick is definitely not an obvious pink, to me it’s a classic 1950s red, so I personally don’t think the name, although very sweet, really suits the shade. Another beautiful shade, 42, is a pinker shade.

For some reason I usually go to Maybelline, L’Oreal or Rimmel when I’m looking for make up in Boots or Superdrug, I assume it’s because I’ve used their brands the most often. However, I think the quality of Bourjois lipsticks are absolutely beautiful, what I love most about the lipstick is it’s curved shape, it is perfect to outline and shape your lips and it glides on extremely smoothly. I don’t think I’ve got any lipstick shaped quite like it! I also appreciate the simplicity of the packaging, I think it’s lovely how the shade of the lipstick can be seen even before opening it. Therefore, I would definitely recommend trying out a Bourjois lipstick!

The other products I purchased were from Holland and Barrett, a healthy living store. I know you can buy Burt’s Bees products online but this is the only shop I personally know where you can buy them from. If anyone else knows of any then please, let me know! I’ve always wanted to try Burt’s Bees and today was finally the chance! I decided to try the lip shimmers in shades, Peony and Rhubarb, I thought I might as well try two, especially as there was a buy one get one half price offer!

Peony is a subtle nude goldish shade and Rhubarb is a hot pink redish shade. I was going to try the shade Cherry, although it sadly wasn’t as vibrant as I’d hoped for. The packaging is so adorable and very pretty with the shade of the lip shimmer being placed on each case. As a lipstick lover, I think I would be better suited to trying the tinted lip balm as I assume they would be longer lasting.

The lip shimmers are lovely, but quite subtle and the lighter shade, Peony, needed quite a few applications to be noticeable. However, I do think they would be nice to apply on top of a lipstick. If you like the smell of mint, then you’re in for a treat, they give off a wonderful scent. The only downside to the lip shimmers is that after twisting the container, I couldn’t twist it back down, so I had to slightly push it, which was nerve wracking as I didn’t want to damage the product.

Overall I was very happy with all three products and would happily use both brands again, although I think lipsticks are definitely my preferred choice!
