Revolution Beauty X Friends Series 1 Eyeshadow Palettes.

Firstly, long time no post! With every day life and in the insanity of 2020, I’ve sadly been neglecting Blogging and regularly posting. However, my love for all things Makeup related has never been far from my mind, in fact you could almost say it’s grown considerably – if that was even possible! As someone who suffers with various Mental Health issues, the creativity of the Beauty World has always been a nice outlet for me to try and switch off and have some fun with the weird and wonderful products released so often. However, the irony is my creativity and perfectionism can almost be a hindrance, as sadly, my anxiety loves to control me and my happiness, which is why all I can do is try and push forward, starting with this.

Therefore, although I’ve not been sharing much, I have been regularly purchasing new palettes and lipsticks, which has formed quite an archive! Therefore, I’ve decided to share my latest buys and an overall summary of the items contents and my humble opinion on it etc.

Since Revolution Beauty, (formerly known as Makeup Revolution) burst onto the High Street in 2014, they’ve grown from strength to strength, having amassed 2.9 million followers on Instagram. They’ve collaborated with a number of huge Celebs and Brands, including one of the most popular TV Shows of all time; FRIENDS – which is what I’m going to be reviewing in this post.

I think one of the huge successes with Revolution has to be, not only their reasonable pricing, but the high qualities they create, which are usually only expected with high end Brands. As someone who wears both high and mid/lower end products, I’ve really learnt that higher pricing does not always mean better products.

Having first aired in 1994, Friends captured the hearts of millions worldwide, finishing it’s long run ten years later in 2004, after 235 episodes. Since Netflix started to stream the show in 2018, it’s continued to snowball in popularity and has attracted even more fans. So much so that a Series 1 Makeup Collection with Revolution was released on September 16th 2020, with a Series 2 Collection being launched on November 4th, just under two months later.

The Phoebe, Monica and Rachel Eyeshadow Palettes feature iconic places in Friends on the packaging, all specifically associated with each of the three female lead characters and retail for just £8, with nine shadows.

Strangely, I weirdly like that the packaging doesn’t have the characters on the artwork. At first, I think I was a bit disappointed by this, but now I actually quite like it. There’s not many shows that can have such iconic places and items that are instantly recognizable, further cementing the legendary status of Friends and all who were involved.

Although I love all characters dearly, my favourite has and will always be Phoebe, her quirkiness, ditsy but quick witted responses and inclusiveness of all has always warmed my heart and endeared me to her. Furthermore, it just so happens that out of three palettes hers is my most loved – coincidence? I think not!

Makeup Revolution London Atomic Lipstick in Dare.

If there’s one Makeup Brand which is currently outdoing itself lately it’s most definitely Makeup Revolution. Not only are their prices pretty damn amazing, but the quality of each product I’ve personally tried is truly exceptional. I’d go as far to say they rival quite a few major High End Brands!

As I’ve said before, when I’m fortunate enough to be able to visit a new City or Country, I try to see and experience all the new sights I can. However, being a huge makeup lover, one of the best things about shopping in a different place means new Brands and yes, maybe even a few, (not so old) favourites! Therefore, if you we’re thinking this was when Makeup Revolution would be returning to this post – you would be correct.

I think I can pretty much guarantee if you’re reading this, you probably love makeup as much as I do. Therefore, 99% of us have all experienced the dreaded moment when we open one of our beloved compacts and see the awful realization – it has completely smashed. With powder being one of my must have products, this was simply not acceptable and I had to find a replacement as soon as possible. Let’s be honest, no one wants the sweaty, foundation dripping look and when you’re in Barcelona and no longer have any powder – you know this is highly likely to happen.

However, fear not, the compact powder problem was soon sorted and in the process, yes you’re right, I did stumble across this beautiful lipstick – so ultimately there was a silver lining! I’ve said it once and we know I will continue to say it again and again, being the vintage girl I am, if I see a good red lipstick, it’s by a Brand I love and it’s a good price – you can definitely assume that I’m going to buy it.

I was pleasantly browsing through the makeup and stumbled across Makeup Revolution, knowing this Brand is available at home initially, I didn’t even think about buying something. Although, when I saw Dare and swatched it on my hand, I knew that assumption would quickly change. At under two euros – yes I’m being totally serious, I couldn’t miss up on such an incredible offer and quickly picked it up!

The lipstick is intensely pigmented, has a lovely soft creamy feel when applied and is very long lasting. We all know I’m a sucker for details and I love how the shade can be seen on the outer product. This is probably one of the cheapest lipsticks I own yet it’s one of the best quality – amazing right? If you’re a bit apprehensive about wearing a red shade then fear not, this colour is definitely an everyday rouge so great to start off with if you’re a red lipstick virgin.

Ultimately, the only downside I have is not even about the product itself! When finding the lipstick online to link in my review, I sadly cannot find this shade online to buy, which makes me think it’s either a new shade or has been discontinued. Once again, the glass is half full and there are three other red shades available, with the newest Ruby being the best dupe.

At just £1.00, you really can’t miss up on an offer like this, you could even buy all nine shades on Superdrug and this would still be cheaper than many high end lipsticks! On the other hand, a part of me wishes I’d not thought of that as I’m partially tempted to do that myself, oh dear.

The only constructive criticism I would give is I’d like to hope Makeup Revolution would release a few pink shades into the collection to add more versatility and options. Although saying that, there are many other lipsticks available from this Brand so I’m sure pink lovers can find their favourite shade!

I can definitely say that Makeup Revolution will continue to be one of my goto favourite Brands and in my heart I only wish I’d discovered it sooner! However, my Bank Account says otherwise – but that’s enough story!

Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter in Golden Lights.

We all know that, when it comes to Makeup I love nothing more than finding an amazing product for a more than reasonable price and if there’s any item worthy of this name it is Makeup Revolution’s Vivid Bake Highlighter! Furthermore, when The Goddess of Makeup, Jeffree Star approves of anything makeup related – you know it’s a keeper.

After previously trying Makeup Revolution’s Blush Palette in Blush Goddess and absolutely falling in love with highlighting, I knew that I had to try a specific product that focuses 100% on creating a beautiful glow. Therefore, as soon as I spotted their Vivid Baked Highlighters, I knew I had to put it to the sparkle test. At just £3.00, yes, I really did just type £3.00, (!) this is more than worthy of such a small price tag – not that I’m complaining of course! It’s amazing how over the past few years, lower end Makeup Brands have really upped their game in quality of their products, yet they’ve still kept their wonderful bargain price tags, what could be better?

Although the shade of the highlighter looks like a very intense silver, fear not, this product is most definitely worthy of the name, “Golden Lights” as it without doubt creates a beautiful warm summer glow. Furthermore, this product may be very pigmented but, it is also buildable, which means that if you’re not a super fan of intense highlight, a little really does go a long way! Also, for such a cheap price, the compact is a very decent size, in my opinion it’s bigger than a lot of higher end Brands products! The only Highlighter I can think of that’s bigger than it is Jeffree Star Cosmetic’s Skin Frosts – which are wonderful quality but, definitely a lot more expensive than the Vivid Baked Highlighters.

Ultimately, even if you’re someone who prefers to buy Higher End Brands, I would without doubt still have this product in your Makeup Collection. It’s affordable, incredibly long lasting and overall – just a damn good product! Okay, so it may not be as pretty as Lancomé’s La Rose Á Poudrer but, I can assure you it’s just as good, or maybe, even better?! What more could you really ask for?

The Vivid Baked Highlighters are currently only available in three other shades and as the rest are all pink and peach tones, this lack of shade diversity may be off putting to some. However, in my opinion, Golden Lights is the most wearable everyday shade and suitable for all skin tones. On the other hand, if you’re not a fan of the four shades, you could also try the Strobe Highlighters, which are the same price but have more of a variety of shades.

Overall, I can pretty much confirm that this is my current go to Highlight of the moment and I’m usually wearing this everyday. I really can’t praise this Brand and Highlight enough and I strongly advise you to pick one up the next time you’re makeup browsing, it’s simply a must have!

Makeup Revolution London Blush Palette in Blush Goddess.

Is it just me who thinks Superdrug are truly outdoing themselves lately with Super High Quality Affordable Makeup Brands? I think not!  One of my latest discoveries is to the amazing Makeup Revolution and in this post I will be reviewing their Blush Goddess Palette – which was my first introduction to Highlighter!

Not only are their products quality and long lasting, but they are incredibly affordable – what could be better?! Therefore, as soon as I saw and tried out this wonderful Blush Palette in, “Blush Goddess” I knew that I simply had to purchase one for myself. At just £6, yes you read that correctly, you get eight blushes; four of them are matte shades and the other four are shimmer shades. Each blush is highly pigmented and perfect if you love a rosy pink glow for the Spring and Summer Seasons, or all year round if you’re like myself and stay away from the bronzing.

I’ve been using this for a good few months now and the palette is showing virtually no signs of wear, so I won’t be needing to buy another anytime soon. Plus, I rarely find a palette in which I like all of the shades and use them regularly, but, this is the first one which breaks the mold! I think this is because most of the shades are fairly similar, therefore if you mostly wear pink and peachy shades – this is the palette for you. However, fear not! Makeup Revolution have a wide variety of products available, with at least six other palettes on offer, I love that they cater for everyone’s preferences! Who doesn’t love a variety?!

For fellow makeup lovers like myself who like to glow and sparkle, not only is this product a blusher, but the four shimmer shades are basically alternatives to highlighter! Therefore, I usually use a matte shade first, preferably the third pink on the bottom line and after applying I go to the top line and add a shimmer overlay – most often the second highlighter. I love how well the colours blend together, they create such a wonderful glow, so much so that a little goes a long way and if you’re looking for the less is more approach, one swipe will definitely be enough.

I’m so happy this palette was  my first introduction to highlighter as I had four beautiful shades to mix and match with and also four matte blushes all for such an amazing price! The only negative I can really think of and if I’m honest – it’s not really a negative, is that this brand is exclusive to Superdrug, so if you  don’t have one near you then that could be a problem. Also, there is no mirror in the palette, but that’s not really an issue and can’t really be expected for the price. However, thanks to the modern world of technology, you can easily order online!

I’m wearing the third Blusher on the lower section and the first three of the Blush Highlighters on my face. The yellow shade I applied in the corners of my eyes, my cupids bow and below my eyebrow bone and the first two pink shades I applied on my cheeks.

The packaging is simple but very classy and as much as I love pretty packaging, I’d much rather have a quality product any day. Ultimately, they let the makeup do the talking! I can definitely say that I will hope to purchase more Makeup Revolution products in the future and next on my list is definitely their Blush Queen palette, which looks even more vibrant and pink than Blush Goddess!

Makeup Revolution London Salvation Velvet Lip Lacquer in Keep Crying For You.

Today for the first time, I tried one of the many new lipsticks that I recently purchased; Make Up Revolution’s Lip Lacquer in Keep Crying For You. This Brand is exclusive to Superdrug and thanks to one of my closest friends who introduced me to them, I finally tried it  and I’m so happy that I did!

As soon as I saw the liquid lipsticks I knew that I had to try them, I think these products are currently the huge hype in the make up world and I have to agree, I’m very much in love with them – it’s such a cool idea! What’s even better about Makeup Revolution is it’s so affordable, I bought this lipstick for just £3! For such a bargain I definitely couldn’t miss out on trying one and I decided to go for a hot pink, something that stands out and is very feminine.

Obviously for the product being so cheap I wasn’t expecting wonders, however, I was personally surprised overall with how much I liked it. When I started to apply the lipstick I noticed it did look pretty streaky and I did feel slightly worried. However, the formula dried down very quickly and looked completely pigmented and bold. I did use my lip brush for the base coat of my lipstick, then the wand for the overall production which I found very good for shaping the colour.

I first applied the lipstick this morning and after having lunch a few hours later I did notice that a fair amount of the product had been removed from my lips. To be fair, there was still a lot of lipstick present, but as I like my  lipstick to be extremely prominent, I did reapply another coat for the photos. I would recommend if wearing this all day then you should definitely take it with you as it isn’t hugely long lasting, but that is to be expected for such a cheap price.

I adore the overall look of the lipstick, it really does dry very quickly and changes into a bold matte formula. Personally, I do think the lipstick does start to feel slightly drying but with the matte finished I’m not that surprised – a lot of liquid lipsticks can tend to create this overall feel. However, this doesn’t put me off wearing these lipsticks, although it can feel a bit strange it doesn’t really bother me and if it does bother you, then simply apply a lip closs or semi sheer lipstick over it.

The packaging is very much like the Kylie Jenner and Anastasia Beverley Hills liquid lipsticks, it looks just like a lip gloss – but we all know it’s not! The lipstick comes in a gorgeous rose gold packaging which I really love – this seems to be the colour of the moment for sure! Another good thing about this lipstick is when you touch it, the product stays on and does not come off on your fingers, it really is matte.

My conclusion is I will definitely be purchasing more lipsticks from Makeup Revolution and other products too. I think they are very good quality for such a cheap price and they have a huge variety of lipsticks available, so if you’re not into liquid lipsticks then there are four other categories to choose from. I’ve just worked out, that I could buy five of their lipsticks compared to just one mid to high range product which is very appealing!
