If there’s anyone I have to thank for the discovery of Highlighter, it’s the beautiful Jeffree Star! When I heard about the whole contour/highlight trend I thought it was fascinating, but never really thought about trying it as the contouring, looked way too complicated and intimidating for me to try on my pale skin. The highlighting on the other hand, looked absolutely beautiful, I mean who doesn’t want to glow? However, I was unsure whether I had the skills of mastering the shine and releasing my inner glitter goddess.
However, that all changed when I started watching Jeffree’s YouTube Channel and discovered his incredible Skin Frosts! I’d always appreciated the beauty of highlighters, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a product so beautiful as these incredibly pigmented compacts. Not only that, the shades in the collection are extremely unique and bold – if you want to glow and stand out then these are the ones for you!
When I discovered that the UK Stockists, Beauty Bay had the Skin Frosts in stock I knew that I simply had to try and get one! After falling in love with lilac highlighters, I was really hoping to get Lavender Snow however, only three of the shades were in stock. Therefore, I settled with Peach Goddess, although I wasn’t quite sure how the colour would look on me – I thought it was the best option out of the limited choice left.
Peach Goddess is described as a, “crushed pearly pink” and overall I would agree that is a fairly accurate description. I was actually pleasantly surprised with the pink tint of the product as that meant I didn’t need to use blusher as well. As I was expecting, the pigment of the highlighter is absolutely incredible, with such high coverage that a little does really go a long way – but, who said less is always more?!
The packaging is signature Jeffree and features his iconic barbie pink bold statement colour with the Jeffree Star Cosmetics Logo. Not only that – I am one for details and I noticed that the label name actually matches the shade of the highlighter! Furthermore, the size of the product is incredibly large, so should definitely last a very long time. It’s without doubt the biggest highlighter I’ve ever seen so even though the price is pretty high at £25.50, you definitely get your money’s worth. The compact also features a mirror which is very useful if you’re on the go and want to check your makeup is all in one place.
The only negative I can think of – and it’s not even a bad thing as most highlighters don’t come with one – is that the compact does not come with a highlight brush – so make sure you already have one, unless you want to use your fingers!
I absolutely can’t wait to purchase another Skin Frost – I hope to soon be able to buy Regina George and I look forward to seeing all the new shades Jeffree releases in the future.
