Jeffree Star Cosmetics Mini Red & Pink Velour Liquid Lipstick Bundle.

When Jeffree first launched the Mini Nude Velour Liquid Lipstick Bundle last year, I hoped that the time would come when he would release a red volume and so in February, when the Love Sick Collection launched, so did the Red & Pink Mini Velour Liquid Lipstick Bundle! As soon as I saw this absolute beauty, I knew that I had to have it in my ever expanding archive of makeup and when it arrived on Beauty Bay on Thursday, I ordered it straight away. Also, I simply have to give a huge appreciation to Beauty Bay, as if you order before 9PM they will ship your order next day for free – that is one seriously good deal.

The Mini Collection retails for £45, which might sound like a lot but considering each Velour Liquid Lipstick is £16 by itself, it’s a pretty great bargain. Jeffree Star Cosmetics have simply outdone themselves with the Love Sick Collection, the packaging is an absolute dream, it looks extremely luxurious and should definitely be displayed on your dressing table. The collection comes with eight of Jeffree’s most popular red and pink shades, with each one being vegan and cruelty free. Out of all eight shades in the box, I only have one – Doll Parts, which is a gorgeous mauve pink tone and definitely one of my favourites to wear. Plus, with four of the shades being on my to buy list, I’m extremely happy to have purchased this set and I can see which ones I would buy in their full size.

The other seven shades in the bundle are as follows, Calabasas, Wifey, Watermelon Soda, Anna Nicole, Prom Night, Redrum and Unicorn Blood. I think if you’re a lover of wearing pink and red lipsticks, then of course, this is most definitely a must have purchase. There is such a variety of hues and tones in this collection, from warm shades – Watermelon Soda and Anna Nicole, to blue shades – Wifey, Redrum, Unicorn Blood, Prom Night and mauve shades – Doll Parts and Calabasas.

Jeffree’s liquid lipsticks are known to be very long lasting and extremely high quality, one of the best formulas in the beauty world. He’s always pushing the boundaries with creating new shades, coming out with unique product ideas and I really do love the concept of the mini collection. Not only is it wonderful to have so many lipsticks for such a good price, but they’re the perfect travel size products to take with you wherever you go. Plus, with such a variety of products,  it’s wonderful to be able to try a shade you may not have necessarily bought separately.

If I had to choose my favourite shade from the collection it would be Redrum, this bold classic red has been one of the colours I’ve been dreaming of purchasing as soon as I discovered it. I know it’s one of Jeffree’s most popular reds and it was simply the first one I had to try! I’ve also photographed myself wearing the colour,  Unicorn Blood and I just love the tone – a cool dark burgundy red. All of Jeffree’s lipsticks dry down to a matte format, but don’t feel uncomfortable, they still keep your lips feeling moisturized. With eight shades in the collection, I’ve now tried seven and can genuinely say I love all of them and now have a new lipstick to wear for each day of the week.

I can’t wait to see what Jeffree Star Cosmetics release next, I wonder what will be the third bundle set, maybe metallics, purples or even rainbow shades? Either way, I’m so excited to find out!

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Milan.

As I’ve said many times, pink may be one of my absolute favourite colours and has been for many years, but it’s definitely not one of my go to shades of lipstick to wear. However, this post could shock you all, as I think I may have discovered the perfect pink that I actually… love to wear! Shocking, I know.

A few of you may be thinking, “I’m sure she’s wrote about quite a few pink shades of lipstick” and I’ll agree, to an extent. Although the shades I’ve wrote about have been mostly mauve shades, which although has a pink tint, is overall a different colour. However, this lipstick is definitely the colour in question and one I happen to adore and this post shall tell you why.

I’ve previously tried NYX’S Matte Lip Cream in the shade, “Ibizia” and wrote about this wonderful lipstick and brand in this post published last year. Therefore, when I happened to be browsing through their lipsticks a few weeks ago, (I was of course testing many shades on my hand, so much so that I practically created a rainbow) I came acrossMilan“. I’m surprised I actually picked it up as for the hundredth time, we all know that pink isn’t my must wear shade, although I do like a variety so, for whatever reason I swiped the lipstick on my hand. After trying out what seemed like hundreds of lipsticks on my hand, I was continuously drawn back to Milan and thankfully, I ended up buying it.

At just £5.50, the Soft Matte Lip Cream’s are a pretty great price, although if I could change one thing I do wish the product was a slightly bigger size. However, overall it is definitely worth the money. There are so many different shades in this collection and I especially love how each lipstick is named after a City! Pretty cool huh? The lip wand is also perfect and this is actually the only lipstick I will apply without using my must have lip brush! I think the reason is because not too much product comes out onto the wand therefore making it a lot easier to use in creating the perfect pout.

The soft matte cream formula is slightly different to a liquid lipstick, it dries very quickly but as described, it applies as a cream formula – not liquid. A positive to this is it’s definitely less messy if you happen to sometimes make a bit of a mess like myself. I would say that a applying a few coats of this product is a good idea as it’s not as long lasting as some others. However, for the price it is amazing quality and pretty pigmented.

I absolutely love the smell of the NYX Lip Cream, it’s not too strong and is a beautiful vanilla like scent. Plus, once fully applied it doesn’t even really feel like you have any product on your lips, which is a super bonus as we all know how uncomfortable sticky, flaky lipsticks can be. The packaging is pretty similar but very pretty and as someone who is a huge fan of the added details, I really appreciate the NYX Logo with the little heart. I also think it’s a wonderful idea how each product is the colour of the shade you purchase.

Therefore, as you can tell – this is without doubt my favourite pink lipstick I own, I think it’s due to the unique cool tone shade that NYX have created. I can’t think of another one like it and it’s definitely not easy coming up with variations when there are so many amazing colours out there. It’s not a baby pink or hot pink, it’s truly unique!

Have you got any NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams and if so, which is your favourite?

Younique Lipstick.

As you have probably guessed by now, I adore make up and as a huge lipstick lover I’m forever trying different shades and brands. Therefore, I was thrilled to be contacted by a lovely presenter from the make up brand Younique; Lizzie, asking me if I would be happy to test out one of their lipsticks. Yes, I’m pretty sure you can all guess what my answer was!

I was sent a link to the website so I could view all of the lipsticks and there were so many beautiful shades! The lipstick I was sent is called a Moodstruck Opulence Lipstick and the shade is Pretentious. When I first saw it I knew straight away that I would adore it, it’s such a vibrant fuschia pink and looks exactly like the picture on the website, which is very important!

I think my favourite thing about the lipstick would have the be the glitter pigments, I’ve had many lipsticks and lip glosses over the years that look glittery but produce no glitter when applied – which is very frustrating! However, the glitter in Pretentious was fully apparent when I applied the shade this morning, I felt it made my lips look 3D. Plus, for all Marilyn/Old Hollywood fans, the texture created reminded me of Marilyn’s iconic lips in Niagara (1953), the only difference being the shade. What could be better?

The lipstick was easy to apply and perfect for shaping the contours of my lips and creating a glossy look without feeling sticky or clumpy. Therefore there’s no need to apply any separate gloss over the lipstick! There are two finishes available in the Moodstruck lipsticks; Matte and Pearl and Pretentious has a pearl finish, which I personally prefer.

I also think it’s wonderful how there is a whole page to show you how to use the Moodstruck Opulence Lipsticks, all of the different shades by colour and finish and the science and ingredients behind the product. As a vintage girl at heart, I’m really loving the reds, Vain and Stinkin’ Rich!

Not only is the lipstick a beautiful colour, but the packaging of the product is so pretty! The black container is so elegant and is finished with a lovely pattern on the top of the product and on the inside too. Younique pride themselves on quality make up and the website has lots of details about how their brands aim is to enrich and nourish the skin with their goal being to provide healthy, clean and pure cosmetics. I for one, definitely think they succeed!

I can’t wait to try more of Younique’s products in the future, there are so many to choose from, I really could spend hours browsing through their website! You can also find them on, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube!

Thank you to Lizzie for introducing me to this wonderful brand, I will definitely go back for more products!

Lipstick Love.

Although I adore all aspects of Make Up, my absolute must have item would be Lipstick, I am absolutely obsessed! So as you can probably guess, this post will be all about my latest buys, you guessed it, Lipsticks!

Besides the eyes, I think the lips are an essential part of any make up and although I do love the vintage look, I like to mix it up every now and then! My other favourite shades to wear would be peachy corals and nudes.

So last week I ended up buying three new Lipsticks and one Lip Pencil, what can I say? I think I’m a bit out of control. However, two of my lipsticks ended up being free because of the wonder that is a Boots Saving Card.

Originally, I only intended to buy one Lipstick, well Lip Pencil and that was Soar from Mac. Ever since Kylie Jenner’s lips became a phenomenon everyone has been obsessed with what colour she wears and it just so happens that Soar is one of them. Naturally, because of this I was not expecting it to be in stock, however, I was in luck! The great thing about Mac Lip Pencil’s is that they’re so strong and stay put all day, you can even wear them without a lipstick! Therefore that’s what I’ve done today, The pencil is a dream to apply on your lips, it’s soft and has a matte finish, so you don’t need to apply again, it should last all day. Overall I love this colour, it’s a bold nudeish pink and something a bit different than a normal pink or nude, I’d definitely recommend! It’s my favourite MAC Lip Pencil that I have so far, I also really liked Whirl but I think I made the right choice.

While I was in MAC, I naturally decided to look at the other Lipsticks and came across one that I’ve had on my wishlist for quite a while, it’s called Please Me. As I’ve said before, although I love the colour pink, I don’t really like to wear it that often as I don’t think it suits me all that well. This shade however is not a strong bold pink, it’s subtle and a matte finish, my favourite finish for MAC Lipsticks. I was surprised that I liked it as much as I did, it’s almost like a nude pink and I just think it’s a lovely colour. Who knows, maybe it will inspire me to wear more pink?!

Lastly, I decided to check out Rimmel’s new Kate Moss Nude Collection. As I’ve said before, I think because of my love for the 1960s and stars such as Brigitte Bardot and Sharon Tate, I’ve really been enjoying Nude Lipsticks lately. When I was younger I used to wear one by MAC called Myth all of the time, however I then moved on to more bold shades such as reds. There were three shades and after trying all of the colours on my hand, I found that I liked colour 45 the most. When I first applied it I felt that it was way too understated for my liking, however, all it took was a few more layers and the shade really grew on me! It’s not a lipstick colour I have in my collection, but I’m definitely glad I have one now. I guess when I wear this shade I may apply heavier eye make up to contrast with my lips.

I’ve bought many Rimmel Kate Moss Lipsticks before and it just so happened that Boots were having a Buy One Get One Half Price offer! I looked at there other colours and came across her Lasting Finish Collection, straight away a red lipstick caught my eye, number 110. As you can probably guess, I have a lot of red lipsticks, however you’d be surprised how many different shades you can get in red! I really love this colour as it’s not too bold like many of my other lipsticks, it’s a warm tone and a nice change from the cold classic shades I usually go for.

Max Factor Lipfinity Long Lasting Lipstick.

After seeing these lipsticks advertised in Grazia, I knew that I had to try one and see what I thought, so today I bought two shades from Boots. They have a 3 for 2 offer on their make up products, so my mum got one also. I have a couple of Max Factor Lipsticks and a Lip Pencil which is my favourite, so I know that they are a quality brand.

The first thing I absolutely love about these lipsticks has to be the packaging! Although I’m not usually a fan of gold, I love gold make up containers because it reminds me of make up from the Golden Era of Hollywood. I found them to be wonderful and easy to apply, and the shape of them is perfect for contouring your lip line. They also smell gorgeous, the scent reminded me of a  fruity lip balm.

Although I really like the lipsticks, I was a bit disappointed in the almost satin finish. I bought a Real Techniques Lip Brush today and found that to be wonderful, I’ve tried their products before and I still use their brushes every day. However, because of the finish of the lipstick, I felt it took forever to build up on my lips and in the end I just used the lipstick itself for application. Luckily it wasn’t a problem as like I said before, the flat almost oval shape of the lipstick is perfect.

Max Factor are true to their advertisement, the lipstick is moisturizing and feels like a lip balm conditioning your lips. The lipsticks are £8.99, so in medium price range and I’d say they are worth the money definitely. The colours I chose were, Always Chic and Ever Sumptuous and my mum chose Evermore Sublime. My favourite shades to wear are deep reds for the 1940s/1950s and peachy corals for the 1960s, whilst my mum loves pinks so altogether I have quite a few shades to show you all!

After trying all of the shades, I would say that my favourite as you’ve probably guessed is Always Chic, the red one. I think it fits my vintage style the best and is the boldest colour out of all three.

I also picked up a new Benefit Eye Bright. Ever since learning about Marilyn’s Make Up Routine and how she wore a white eyeliner to highlight, I always make sure to apply it in the inner rim of my eye. Plus, it also contrasts great with my winged eyeliner and lashes and helps to make your eyes look bigger. Lastly, I bought an eye shadow brush, for years I’ve been using the mini eye shadow applicators with the foam tip which are great for shaping, but after a while they tend to need replacing.
